About Us
What is impact investing?

From the Global Impact Investing Network:

Impact investments are investments made with the intention to generate positive, measurable social and environmental impact alongside a financial return. Impact investments can be made in both emerging and developed markets , and target a range of returns from below market to market rate, depending on investors' strategic goals. The growing impact investment market provides capital to address the world’s most pressing challenges in sectors such as sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, conservation, microfinance, and affordable and accessible basic services including housing, healthcare, and education.

Objective: Source investment managers within a specified industry.
We worked with Imvest to identify worldwide investment managers with a clear focus on climate change. A team of 5 project analysts looked into managers' theories of change, portfolios, investment theses, and impact metrics to select and present an overview of 5 key investment managers in the climate industry. The team presented a final deliverable in April.
Objective: Source potential investments within various climate subindustries.

We worked with Apollo to define acquisition targets based on specific climate industry sub-verticals. 12 project analysts, divided into 3 different teams, selected investment targets, conducted valuation and growth analysis, and provided recommendations and predictions on the performance of the selected targets. The teams presented a final deliverable in May.
Fall & Spring 2024
Objective: How have private equity-backed internet service providers performed?
Project 1: Market research on broadband infrastructure that was funded/owned by PE, who now owns it. What was the pricing for various packages? How did that evolve over time? Penn Impact Investing is committed to producing and presenting a ~10-slide presentation summarizing effectively and accurately the projects to help Connect Humanity inform business decisions.
Project 2: Comprehensive research on CDFI entities, with a specific focus on certifications and leading players.
